• Plan out your route. While you may be keen to travel wherever the road takes you, it’s generally advised that you plan out your route ahead of time, especially if you’re driving on unfamiliar roads. This will also allow you to make the most of your time, as you can figure out the most effective route from A to B. • Stay organised. Whether you’re travelling for one week or several, it’s important that you are as organised as possible throughout the duration of your trip. After all, you’re spending a lot of time in the car, which can quickly become unpleasant if you’re surrounded by clutter and clothing. The easiest way to avoid complete chaos is to pack as light as possible. This way, you can sit comfortably in your car without being surrounded by bags and cases. Remember, you could always pack a portable clothes dryer in the boot so that you can wash clothes on the go!  
• Pack plenty of snacks and drinks. Having snacks and drinks to hand is one of the easiest ways to keep everyone happy when on the road. Having plenty of water to hand is particularly important during the summer months, when temperatures are likely to be much higher and drinking plenty of water is key! 
• Find ways to keep your kids entertained on the road. There is one inevitably that you must prepare yourself for when heading out on a road trip with your kids. And that is the dreaded phrase: I’m bored. As such, it’s important that you find as many ways as possible to keep your kids entertained on the road. For example, you may want to bring along a tablet so that they can watch TV or movies from the backseat or bring along some games that they can play. 
• Plan your breaks. While you’ll likely be spending a few days at each destination on your route, it’s important that you do not spend too long behind the wheel without taking a break.
