There’s nothing quite like the freshness of the outdoors, but what if you could bring this inside? From introducing a new colour scheme to potting the perfect indoor plant, we give our top tips for bringing the outdoors in, and how best to achieve it in your home.

Plant Life

Probably the most obvious for bringing the outdoors into your home is to introduce plants. Not only are they aesthetically desirable, but house plants can also have numerous health benefits so it’s time to choose the perfect one for your space. If you have shelving, consider a hanging plant such as ivy or ‘string of pearls’ and for the windowsills why not partner up some succulents with cacti or two.

If you have a larger space, then consider investing in a bigger plant or small tree. These can be great in bathrooms or hallways, just make sure they get enough light to thrive.

Once you’ve selected the ideal plants for your space, you’ll need to choose the perfect pots to display them in. If your plant is highly textured or overly complex in appearance, a plain pot will suit perfectly, but for the leafier plants why not opt for a more ornate or textured pot to make a statement.

Colour Scheme

A colour scheme can do a lot for space, making it seem larger or smaller, or even warmer or cooler. When trying to bring a touch of nature to your home, consider using neutrals and muted tones of greens, olive and blues. These colours will partner perfectly with your plant life and help to bring a more rounded aesthetic.

If you’re not up for painting your walls, other small changes such as switching cushion covers or bedding to complementary and natural colours can be the perfect way to start.

Get Inspiration

There are plenty of places to source inspiration from when looking to restyle your home, and one of the easiest is to look outside.

From the stunning Lyme Regis Holiday Cottages from Lyme Bay Holidays which encompass their beautiful seaside surroundings within their coastal-inspired interiors, to the swish apartment blocks of cities around the world which feature art inspired by their surroundings, the outdoors can help inspire how you style your interiors.

Consider how your space can be influenced by the outdoors and which elements you want to bring inside. Bringing the outdoors in can also include reflecting on your surroundings through art and photography!

Textures

The outdoors boasts a whole array of textures and a great way to add a natural element to your home is to introduce these in different forms. Woven rugs in jute are super on-trend at the moment, along with rope baskets and solid wooden floors; all of which help to bring a touch of the outdoors to your interiors.

Layering textures across a room can really help bring the whole look together and give it an even more natural look.

Natural Light

Light is key when considering bringing the outdoors into your home. Plenty of brightness will help to bring the outdoorsy feel to your home. Consider in utilising lighter fabrics in your curtains, or simply hanging mirrors to reflect the light and give an appearance of a brighter, airier room.

These are just a few tips for bringing the outdoors into your home, and it’s definitely a theme I’m loving. So whether you’re bringing nature indoors with plants or reflecting the buzz of a city through art – there’s plenty of ways to get on trend!
