Having a beautiful or interesting piece of art in the home can instantly brighten up the place. It’s a place the eye is drawn to, and studies prove that art is good for the brain! When looking at art, it has the same effect on the brain as when you look at a loved one. It’s up to you whether you want to hang just a few pieces of art or turn your home into a fully-fledged gallery.

If you’re looking for some new art for your walls in this New Year, Desenio is the place check out. They’ve got hundreds of posters, with designs like typography, art prints, photographs, black and white, metallic gold and nature. The list really does go on and there is something to suit everyone’s tastes. The posters come in various sizes from as small as 13 x 18 to large at 70 x 100 and the pricing is great too, posters from as little as £2 a print, so a very cost-effective way to decorate. Did you know they’ve got a large selection frames to go along with the posters too? They come in a wooden and metal finish.

Back to ‘the best way to display art in your home’, below are my top tips to get inspired and started:

An Art Wall

Instead of hanging just one piece of art, why not create an entire art wall? This is a way to display your art that turns the wall into a feature wall. There are many different places you can try. On the stairs, and above the bed are two of my favourites. It can be anywhere you like though, so make sure you use your imagination!

Make Sure The Pieces Match Up in Some Way

As a rule, if you’re going to display art together, the pieces should match up in some way. If you’re going to use colour pictures, consider selecting a theme so they still match. If you’re choosing pictures with no relevance whatsoever, consider having the pictures in black and white, or in the same frames/the same size. This will still give the art wall a professional look without being too matchy-matchy.

Experiment With Different Shapes and Sizes

Experimenting with different shapes and sizes is a lot of fun. To help you work out the layout, cut out the shapes you’re going to use and arrange them on the floor. You can do this with the art itself if you have enough room on the floor. Usually, I place one big piece of art in the middle, then smaller pieces of art around that. If the middle piece is big enough, you can place the smaller pieces anywhere and it’ll still look good.

Use Traditional Pieces in a Contemporary Setting, and Vice Versa

There are all kinds of art, but mainly traditional and contemporary pieces. You could consider placing something contemporary, like Brian Braaq Art, in a traditional setting. I usually find this looks better than matching them up.

Find Your Own Art

Art can be very expensive, but you can always find your own art. Look in magazines, use posters, and get your children to draw you something. You can then frame these pieces and it’ll look just as good! Displaying them using the tips here will give them a streamlined, professional feel.

Take Ornaments Into Account

Including ornaments in your displays will add another dimension to them. You could literally create a wall worthy of a gallery in your home by using different pieces of art and ornaments. Try it!
